The newest ‘Star Wars’ movie ‘The Last Jedi’ has been a huge success ever since it came out in theaters. In the United States it surpassed the live-action version of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ on the last day of 2017 by reaching a total of $517.1 million. ‘Beauty and the Beast’ reached a total of $504 million for the year.
This weekend ‘The Last Jedi’ is expected to bring in another $52.4 million and with these numbers the movie surpasses Dwayne Johnson’s ‘Jumanji’ sequel (which came in second with $50.6 million) for the third week in a row. It’s expected to reach $300 million domestically by the end of its run.
‘The Last Jedi’ hasn’t even opened in Chinese theaters yet but with this weekend’s earnings the movie will have made over $1 billion globally.
