In your interview for a big position, your job is to convince the recruiter that you are capable for doing what they are looking for. You should go into the interview feeling motivated and ready to convince the recruiter why you deserve the job more than anyone else in your position. You need to convince yourself that you are interviewing for this job because they saw something in you in the first place – this will make you walk into the office in a more confident manner, which is what they want to see. If you are confident, they will feel more confident that you are the best fit for the position because you know you can do what they are asking for. We have put together an interview prep plan that will allow you to feel more ready to conquer your interview and get an offer for your dream job.

Research the organization!

  • The company will ask you specific questions to see if you looked into what they do. This will tell the that you are more prepared than the others interviewing for your position. You will stand out if you can answer these questions.
    • Find out what the company does, and look into different areas of what they do that you are interested in.
    • Look at the website and make sure you know what message they are trying to send to the audience. Know the audience! What kind of people are they catering to? What are they trying to sell? This is all found in the mission statement.
    • Have questions ready to ask the recruiter. There is no way you will understand everything on the website, and it is better to ask questions than to be left in the dark. It also shows that you are curious and want to learn more about what the company does.
  • Compare your skills to the job requirements listed. Do you have the skills they are looking for and the experience they need to hire you?
    • Know what they are looking for and be prepared to tell them why you deserve this position. What can you bring to the table that no one else can?
    • What have you done that is similar to what you would be doing in the new position and how can you apply what you know to be more successful in this job? Making a list with help you gather your thoughts together.
    • If you don’t have something they are asking for but they already invited you for a n interview, it’s fine. Don’t focus on what you don’t have or don’t know, rather, tell them about what you know and have done.
  • Prepare responses and practice what you are going to say.
    • Have a friend listen to you and tell you what you are doing well and what you need to practice more.
    • Make sure you don’t sound like a robot in the actual interview, but you should have a good idea of how to answer questions. When they ask you to explain what you have on your resume, for example, you should know this off the top of your head and you should not have to look down to see what you did two years ago.
    • Know what you are going to say about yourself. Do you love fishing or running? They want to know about you, not just what you have done in your career.
  • Plan what you are going to wear ahead of time.
    • Wear something appropriate for the place you are interviewing at.
    • Dress to impress: make sure you look neat and clean.
    • Try on the outfit ahead of time to make sure it fits and you feel comfortable. It is better to be prepared than not, even if it takes extra effort. This is what they want to see.
  • Plan what to bring to the interview.
    • Always bring an extra copy of your resume on nice paper in case the recruiter doesn’t have it printed. The paper is important!
    • Bring some kind of binder and pen to write down important information and to collect business cards so that you can write follow up emails.
  • Follow up!
    • Ask questions and make sure you understand everything you wanted to know when you walked into the office. They want you to ask questions because it shows you want to learn more and that you are eager to learn.
    • Don’t ask questions that you know the answer to or that you can find on the website – this is a waste of everyone’s time.
    • Ask the recruiter what makes his / her job and why he continues to work there?
    • It is important to ask what the nexts steps are – is there another interview you should prepare for? When should you expect an email back about this interview? This is important to ask so that you aren’t left in the dust.

As a division of a company based in Japan, the Takeda Pharmaceuticals offices in Cambridge, Massachusetts bear a distinctly Japanese influence. Origami and the concept of creating space through folding were key inspirations for their 2017 redesign and as a result, their new space is full of defined angles and geometric shapes.

This enclave, featuring a lounge from our Lagunitas Seating Collection and a SW_1 Lounge Chair, simultaneously feels open and private, creating a beautiful retreat within the office. We love the custom fabric on the Lagunitas and the vibrant colors of the carpet and SW_1 chair add a striking pop of color.

Office design is an excellent way to enhance company branding and reflect the overall personality of a brand. Heineken took full advantage of this when their offices in White Plains, New York were redesigned earlier this year, prominently featuring branded colors and the company logo throughout the entire space.

One of the main things Heineken wanted from their new design was to create social hubs to encourage employee interaction and engagement.

One of the key goals in Red Hat’s Mexico City office redesign was to naturally encourage interaction and collaboration. Their new space fully embraces the concept of the third place, featuring beautifully designed lounges, cafés, and enclaves where workers can step away from their desk or the conference room and focus on a task by themselves, work with others, or socialize.

The space pictured below, which includes our Wing Chair CH445 and EMU Heaven Table, is just one example. Between the use of color, varied angles, and light, they’ve created a space that’s visually interesting and engaging without being overwhelming

If you get a sense of being overwhelmed by the task of stepping up and creating these skills, then try to think of it like breaking it down into parts.

Firstly, research what this dream job requires in terms of education, skills, certification and all the rest. That way, you know what is required of you. Maybe your dream job is already in the line of work you are in – just in a different setting. This means you’ll have a little less to do than if you are switching careers altogether.

You can also reach out to professionals in the area to talk about how they got into their jobs, and to get some wise advice to really start to narrow down the most important first steps to take.

It may not require you to go completely back to school and get a whole new degree. Try to think outside of the box and consider what you could do in terms of online or in person short courses, programs and self-study to get these skills. Not all professional work needs a specific degree. Many writers didn’t graduate from journalism, they started out in smaller writing jobs (with smaller pays) in order to get their experience up to eventually land that bigger article writing job they were looking for. Or graphic designers might not have to go to a multi-year graphic design specialty degree, but rather complete some online courses and take part in some volunteer work in order to brush up their skills.

Basically, the key here is to know what is required of you, and find ways to meet those requirements of skill, experience and qualification. That is a great starting point to get the ball rolling, and to make you really feel like you are on your way to where you want to be.

The Carry-Ons Youll Want For Your Next Business Trip

The Best –  Briggs & Riley Baseline Commuter Expandable Upright

In the overall, from all the bags we checked, this is the best carry on bag in our opinion. It has a compression technology, sturdy wheels and the company assures a warranty for a lifetime.  It may look like a regular bag from the outside but you know what they say – you can’t judge a book by its cover. This phrase applies here since the internal space is what makes it so special. The bag can expand so there’s actually more space than what you originally think. After packaging, you can compress it back to normal size. Inside the bag, you’ll find panels that will hold your clothes so you’ll find them fresh and without wrinkles upon your arrival. On the outside, the bag is made of ballistic nylon so no need to worry about your vulnerable.

But that is just one advantage to this bag. This carry on is rather light and has zipped compartments on the inside for your smaller stuff. The design of the handle is ergonomic and makes it easy to carry for your arm. You can also expand the main compartment and add some more space to the bag in case you need it. This one we’ve saved for last, but can really be the thing that makes or breaks your success getting into the job that you’ve always dreamed of.

You need to be your own biggest cheerleader. Trust in yourself and really believe that you can do this. If you are still doubting your abilities or playing small, then you are not letting all of yourself shine and be seen for what you can truly offer, and people will sense this.

If your dream job is working for yourself, then you have to really advocate for yourself, and be on your own side. There will be days where all of the logistics of making this happen may get you down, and it can be frustrating and disheartening. These are the times where your own courage to step out and keep going, no matter what will get you through the other side. If you’re looking to land a job working for someone else, then your employer will tell if you have confidence in yourself by the way you communicate and present yourself, and that will, in turn, lead to them having more confidence in you.

It’s not fake arrogance that we’re talking about. It’s the thought that ‘yes, I can do this, I know I have the ability to make it’ that will help you when you need a pick me up. Surround yourself with supportive friends and peers, and this will be a recipe for success.

Stay Inspired and Be Patient

It takes time to create something that is truly life-changing and amazing when it comes to a career. Your career is ultimately your lifestyle, and going after that dream job that delivers all of the benefits of following something you love can require a complete life overhaul.

So with that said, if you’re going through these five steps, and not seeing much change, keep going.

It’ll be worth it in the end, and patience is key to this kind of endeavor. It’s a marathon journey, not a sprint.

Do what you need to do to stay inspired. Listen to podcasts and talks about people who have created this life for themselves to remind you that it’s possible. Stay on track with your peers or mentor keeping you accountable for your actions.
Trust in the process, and in yourself.

The beauty is, when you worked so hard to create this dream job, this victory will taste even sweeter.

Negotiating a good business deal is more about creating opportunities to attain outcomes that satisfy both parties and less about winning.

While it’s very important to have a strategy and be well aware of your negotiation range, success will only come if you can ‘read’ the other party. This includes having an accurate perception of body language and being able to gain insight into what they are thinking.

Be a good listener

More often than not, negotiations are about what is not being said rather than what is. It pays off to listen and learn what the other person wants and needs.

According to experts, one cannot second guess what motivates their customer, client, or coworker, but if you ask the right questions and listen to their answers, you can understand what their goals are without compromising your own.

Set limits

Being clear on your own boundaries and deal-breakers enables you to communicate what you will deliver to your client clearly and what you expect from them in return. Putting limits in place doesn’t mean being rigid and harsh or shutting potential clients out.

It’s about giving clear guidelines so that the other party feels safe and secure. This will also help you communicate what you will and will not negotiate on clearly, which adds confidence to the negotiations.

Mirroring

This is a popular neuro-linguistic programming technique, and quite effective. It involves mimicking the other person’s body language. It is a great way to create a connection and a worthwhile skill to learn. Mirroring a person’s body language, behavior, and vocal tone helps to build rapport.

It’s a great idea to try and create the best flow of a meeting by mirroring the person in terms of their rate of speech or excitement. It builds a stronger connection, which in turn lends you more trustworthiness as a potential business partner.

Keep Refining Your Skills https://theprimarymarket.com/keep-refining-your-skills/ https://theprimarymarket.com/keep-refining-your-skills/#respond Wed, 13 Apr 2022 09:34:16 +0000 https://theprimarymarket.com/keep-refining-your-skills/ To succeed in your dream role, it doesn’t mean that you get the qualifications, start the work, and then you find yourself on top. To succeed in your dream role, it doesn’t mean that you get the qualifications, start the work, and then you find yourself on top. To success means constant effort. Motivation is key here. When it’s in a role you love, and an area you are passionate about, then inspiration and motivation aren’t so difficult to create. You will naturally have that drive to put in the work.

This is a bonus for all of the people seeking their dream jobs, rather than staying in a dead-end career they feel stuck in. Motivation is much harder to create in a role that you internally resent.

So once you have entered the field, in following the above steps of getting your skills up and getting your name out there, then it is time to keep refining these qualities that have helped get our foot in the door, so you can step fully into this job with confidence.

After all, you want to not only be enjoying what you do but also be putting something valuable and important out into the world, right? The way to do that is to invest in you. Investing in yourself is investing in success, is investing in something of quality and substance being offered to the world.

Here are some ways to continue to grow and thrive in your field:

1. Read everything you can.

A great deal of reading is a good start. There will always be tons of different books on your subject of interest, all from varied points of view. This is a great place to start to see where your own personal point of view lies. For instance, if your dream job is to create your own cupcake bakery, then read up not only on recipes and styles that you know you already like, but also branch out to the different and unique forms of cupcake baking that people are doing, so that you can expand your mind and inspiration.

Reading also helps you find out where this area of business/industry is heading, and who the most notable names are in the field.

2.  Find a mentor.

This one can be so valuable for long-term growth, and accountability. If you can find someone to work with personally, like a coach or guide, then amazing. They will help to keep you on the path to success, get things done, and also help to refine your own sense of what you have to give and say in your career.

Alternatively, following the path of an inspirational teacher or leader in your area is also a great way to feel that you have a mentor figure that can keep you inspired.

3. Keep looking for learning opportunities.

They may come in the form of short courses and training that you find on the weekends or evening seminars or lectures. Learning opportunities could also come in the form of some collaboration work, or volunteer events where you are working with others, not exactly for the money, but for the experience of branching out to do something in a way you may normally not do.

In a nutshell, it’s all about spending time on you – growing your capacity to be a real influencer and success in your chosen area.

If you are confident, they will feel more confident that you are the best fit for the position because you know you can do what they are asking for. We have put together an interview prep plan that will allow you to feel more ready to conquer your interview and get an offer for your dream job.
