iPhone maker Apple has become the latest tech giant to try and take down the “remote work” culture. According to Platformer’s editor Zoe Schiffer, Apple has started tracking employee attendance to see which workers are complying with the company’s “work from home” policy. Those that don’t will receive “escalating warnings.”

Apple has recently modified its “work from home” policy and now requires all employees to come to the office at least three days a week. But it appears that the employees are not too happy about the change, and the company now feels that it needs to start enforcing the rule.

Schiffer added that “some orgs are saying failure to comply could result in termination, but that doesn’t appear to be a company-wide policy.”

After the pandemic “remote work” era, Apple started mandating worker attendance for at least one day a week in early 2022. Eventually, the policy changed to the first two days a week and now three days a week. With each change, the employees protested and managed to get some postponement, but it appears that the company remains unbothered by the discontent.

“We make product, and you have to hold product,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook in a recent interview. “You have to collaborate with one another because we believe that one plus one equals three. So that takes the serendipity of running into people and bouncing ideas off and caring enough to advance your idea through someone else because you know that’ll make it a bigger idea.”
