Stocks in New York rose during midday trading on Monday as investors await the latest round of big tech earnings reports and the latest policy decision by the Federal Reserve.
The Dow Jones Industrial Index gained over 190 points, thereby advancing 0.5%, while the S&P 500 followed with a 0.4% gain. The Nasdaq Composite Index edged higher by 0.2%.
Earnings reports from an array of big tech companies are expected this week, including Google parent company Alphabet, Microsoft, and Meta. Last week, financial reports from Netflix and Tesla pulled the tech-heavy Nasdaq lower.
Monday was the eleventh straight daily rise for the Dow Jones Industrial Index, with investors also bracing themselves for the upcoming interest rate decision for July from the Federal Reserve. The central bank is set to convene on Wednesday, with investors wondering whether it will remain hawkish and reinstate interest rate hikes.
