When you think of a bottle of Sprite, what color is that bottle? It’s not even a question. The answer is obviously green.
Or at least, that’s the way it’s been for as long as most people can remember. But it seems as though that’ll no longer be the case after Sprite’s recent announcement.
The soda company recently announced that they’ll be discontinuing their iconic green bottles that so many people have come to know and love. The decision was actually made by Sprite’s parent company Coca-Cola.
So what’s the reason for this decision? It turns out that it mainly has to do with their eco-friendly initiative.
In place of a green bottle, the company will now make exclusively clear plastic bottles—which, according to Yahoo Finance talk show host is “more easily recycled and made into new bottles.”
As some have said, they may find it hard to move on from the classic green bottles, but ultimately it’s something they could get used to.
At the end of the day, as long as Sprite retains its delicious flavor, its most fervent fans will continue to buy the drink. And considering that it’s good for the environment, maybe saying goodbye to the green will be a good thing.
