Global stocks and treasury yields both ended higher on Monday as investors brace themselves for the upcoming interest rate decisions of key central banks.
The majority of observers are expecting the U.S. Federal Reserve to raise its interest rates by 25 basis points in July after instituting a pause during the previous month.
U.S. 10-year treasury yields rose to 3.874% after falling slightly earlier in the session while the rate-sensitive two-year yields were up at 4.8917%.
Stocks on the S&P 500 rose 0.40% to 4,554.64 while those on the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 0.52% to 35,411.24. The Nasdaq Composite Index advanced by 0.19% to 14,058.87.
The dollar strengthened against several major currencies, with the dollar index gaining 0.297%. The euro fell 0.56% against the greenback to $1.1061.
